2024 Australian Open: Day 6 recap
On yet another sensational day on the Gold Coast, the men’s fours sections commenced and concluded, while the women’s singles knockout draw has taken shape as the Australian Open heats up.
Women’s Singles – sections 95 – 119
The women’s singles saw all the big names progress through unscathed after an eventful day across the south of Queensland.
Two-time singles champion Kelsey Cottrell survived a huge scare after a 21-20 defeat at the hands of New Zealand’s Linley O’Callaghan in her final match of the day.
Cottrell’s shot difference was more than enough to see her progress on top of her section.
Emerging Jackaroo Samantha Atkinson was in fine touch to go undefeated, while Jessie Cottell enjoyed a brilliant day in the sun.
Para Jackaroo Cheryl Lindfield went unblemished, while reigning fours champion Laura Butler and 2022 pairs runner up Tris Doolan made it through to the next round.

The knockout draw has seen some tantalising matchups revealed, with Kristina Krstic to take on Samantha Atkinson in round one, while Selina Goddard will meet 2022 pairs finalist Wendy Wilson.
