2024 BPL Cup Finals set to dazzle Pine Rivers once more

by Val Febbo on November 8, 2024

One of the staples of a Bowls Premier League (BPL) at Club Pine Rivers is the running of the annual BPL Cup Finals and as usual, the field is heaped with talent.

Following a rigorous qualification period that spanned across local, regional and state levels, 12 teams will make their way to the famous club as they bid for an opportunity to play on the coveted TV rink and take home an Australian title.

After enjoying a brilliant run to the trophy in 2023, Ettalong‘s team of Nathan Malloy, Lee Trethowan and Darren Morrison will look to become the first team to win the event twice in its eighth running.

South Perth are also looking to salute on a second occasion having conquered the third instalment in 2019, however none of the three original winners will be representing the team in this year’s finals.

In that team is Bowls WA President Ken Pride as well as Helen Morss, who has enjoyed her own BPL experience as a Perth Sun in BPL07.

The home club of Pine Rivers will boast a team, with former BPL champion Michael Breen and another Pirate alumni Aaron Hewson part of the lineup.

Queensland will also be represented by Airlie Beach, while New South Wales has Glen Innes.

Victoria’s contingent at the competition will be in the form of Rosebud Beach Community and MCC, while Western Australia’s second team of Osborne Park will be striving for their own piece of national success.

Canberra will take part for the ACT while Alice Springs will make the trek from the red centre in their bid to bring the trophy to the Northern Territory for the first time.

Finally, Tasmania’s squad comes in the form of Cremorne while South Australia will be represented by Berri.
