2025 Nationals: Day 10 wrap

by Val Febbo on November 20, 2025

It was a memorable day for both Tasmania and New South Wales as the 2025 Australian Sides Championships got underway in Devonport.

Alley Shield – Men

Hosts Tasmania would end the day on top of the table following a famous win over Queensland in the morning session in front of a raucous reception on green two.

The Apple Isle would then hold off a gallant Northern Territory in the second matchup of the day to sit atop the table with five rink wins.

New South Wales would extend its winning streak at the tournament to 21 ties thanks to a gritty first up victory against Victoria despite taking just one rink out of the three.

Western Australia would then push the Blues all the way in the second round before they would again find away to sit in second.

Victoria and Queensland round out the top four with wins over South Australia and the ACT in the second session respectively.

South Australia, the ACT, Western Australia and Northern Territory round out the ladder with a draw and loss each.

Marj Morris Trophy – Women

New South Wales were the dominant force in round one, making a gargantuan statement against Victoria on the indoor green before emerging from behind to take down the Western Australians with a tenacious display.

Tasmania follow closely in second place, only behind on shot difference thanks to their two wins over Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Queensland sit third thanks to a handy response against the ACT in round two, who in turn sit in fourth place with three rink wins and a win for the day.

Victoria rounded out their day with a win to sit fifth, with Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory rounding out the ladder.
