2025 Nationals: Day 7 wrap

by Connor Munnings on November 16, 2025

It was riveting day of action at Devonport Country Club as teams made their move in the Australian Senior Sides Championships as part of the 2025 Nationals on the north west coast of Tasmania.

Women

In the women’s draw, Queensland sits alone on top of the table following wins against South Australia and Australian Capital Territory.

However, Tasmania are the real surprise packets of the competition so far, after defeating three-time Betty Collins OAM champions Victoria 61-42 in the morning session.

Led by Maxine Monson and Kim Saunders’ rinks, Tasmania were looking ominous on their home greens.

In the afternoon session, New South Wales narrowly defeated the locals in an enthralling contest 54-44.

Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania sit second, third and fourth respectively, but all have three wins and are only separated by rinks points and shots.

South Australia and Australian Capital Territory are in fifth and sixth with a chance to medal, while Western Australia and Northern Territory are yet to record an overall win.

Men

Victoria have stamped their authority on the competition after resounding victories against Tasmania and Western Australia.

The 2022 Glyn Bosisto MBE champions held off a valiant home state team 72-51 in the morning session before comfortably overcoming Western Australia in wet conditions 63-37.

The dual wins puts them undefeated on top of the table with 10 rink points from the four rounds.

Hot on their tail is New South Wales, who also have an unblemished record after defeating Western Australia and Tasmania.

Queensland sits a win behind in third position, with Tasmania and South Australia squaring their ledgers with two wins.

Northern Territory, Western Australia and Austrian Capital Territory round out the ladder.
