2025 Nationals: Day 8 wrap

by Connor Munnings on November 17, 2025

The 2025 Australian Senior Sides Championships put on a scintillating display at Devonport Country Club, with some huge matchups looming to decide the champions for the Glyn Bosisto MBE, John Dobbie AM and Betty Collins OAM Trophies.

Men

New South Wales remain undefeated atop the table in the men’s draw after dominant performances against the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory.

They’ve set up a mouthwatering matchup with Victoria, who are second on the ladder with five wins and a loss.

A win for New South Wales means they would claim the John Dobbie Am Trophy, but a loss opens the door up for Victoria and Queensland, who are also on five wins and a loss in third position.

Tasmania and South Australia battled hard throughout the day to sit with even ledgers in fourth and fifth.

Western Australia, Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory round out the table.

Women

Queensland sit a game clear in the women’s draw, suffering its first defeat to the hands of the three-time champions in Victoria 69-60 in the final round of the day.

Victoria finished the day in third position with four wins and two losses in a logjam of teams with the same win/loss ratio.

In the match of the day, the Australian Capital Territory dented New South Wales’ chances of claiming the Betty Collins OAM Trophy by recording a 55-52 two rink win over the blues in round five.

New South Wales currently sit in second position also on four wins and two losses, while South Australia and Tasmania are in the hunt.

The Australian Capital Territory, Western Australia and Northern Territory make up the rest of the ladder.

Queensland can wrap up the championship if they defeat Northern Territory in the final round, while New South Wales faces Victoria and South Australia versus Tasmania.
