2026 National Development Series: Day 1 wrap
The 2026 National Development Series kicked off with a bang at Deer Park Club with Teams Yellow and Red opening their accounts with big wins.
Venturing outside Queensland for the first time, the 36 combatants were met with a cold and wintery day in Melbourne’s west as they turned up the heat with some sensational bowls.
Recently crowned Commonwealth Games gold medallist Jimmy Reynolds’ Team Yellow was in a rampant mood today across both the open and para contingent, with the likes of Cooper Whitestyles and Lisa Phillips performing in exemplary fashion across the three sessions.
The yellow squad won eight of their eleven contests for the day against Team Blue and set themselves up for a strong week.
In the other matchup it would be Ian Ewing’s Team Red who took the honours against Team Green, winning six and drawing three contests throughout an enthralling afternoon.
