Bowls Host Course – build bowls communities through great experiences
Throughout summer, barefoot bowls is one of the best ways for families, friends, teammates, and colleagues to come together, celebrate, and experience the joy of our sport.
For clubs, this is a golden opportunity – because when barefoot bowlers have a great experience, they’re far more likely to come back, join in, and get involved.
To support Clubs in being able to provide fun, memorable experiences, Bowls Australia with the support of State Territory Associations, have created a new Bowls Host Course.
The Bowls Host is a national initiative designed to help clubs create positive first impressions that turn social players into lifelong participants.
Through the Bowls Host Course, clubs can equip staff and volunteers with the tools to deliver welcoming, well-run barefoot sessions that reflect the fun and community spirit of our sport.
A great Bowls Host makes people feel welcome, relaxed, and part of the fun.
They don’t need to be experienced bowlers – the course includes everything they need to help newcomers learn the basics, stay safe, and leave feeling a sense of achievement.
Each participant receives a step-by-step guide and a practical Host Toolkit, covering everything from setting up the green to engaging participants, managing groups, and adding those little touches that make every event memorable.
This course can be completed in under an hour and is ideal for people who are energetic, engaging, and great with people – whether they’re existing club members or new faces from the local community.
It’s also a fantastic way to diversify our volunteer or paid workforce and bring in people who love connecting with others.
Encourage your clubs to support the Bowls Host Course as an easy, practical way to deliver fun, welcoming barefoot experiences that keep people coming back.
