#BPL16: Corey Wedlock named MVP in record tally
Tweed Heads Ospreys’ star Corey Wedlock might not have enjoyed team success at the BPL but he has capped off a stellar week on the personal front with a record tally to claim his first Most Valuable Player (MVP) award at #BPL16 at Club Pine Rivers.
Wedlock polled 49 of a possible 54 votes throughout 18 games for the Ospreys, eclipsing the Aron Sherriff record of 47 set at BPL15 six months ago.
The 26-year-old’s franchise would only register seven wins for the competition and finish ninth but he was a key pillar as they mounted significant challenges to their opponents throughout the competition, polling no less than a two in each match.
Wedlock also becomes a BPL All Star team member for the first time in his career.
Melbourne Pulse member Gary Kelly capped off an impressive week for his franchise with a runner-up MVP performance, earning his first BPL All Star selection in the process.
Rebecca Van Asch polled an impressive 18 votes on her way to top the female vote-getting tally and earn her second successive All Star cap, joining Sherriff as the only players in the team’s short history to achieve selection twice.
