BPL17: Day 4
Four franchises have locked in a finals berth with two matches to play at the Moama Bowling Club as BPL17 nears its climax following a sensational day’s action.
The Moama Steamers will enter tomorrow night’s finals in pole position following an unblemished day at home, notching up the team’s 12th victory of the tournament in the night session against the Melbourne Pulse.
Aron Sherriff, Ryan Bester and Cassandra Millerick sit three wins clear on top of the ladder with the Sydney Lions and Tweed Heads Ospreys set to resume their battle for second place in the morning.

Sydney completed the day in second place despite just a solitary victory on day four, with a healthy net sets and shot difference keeping them above their northern rivals and BPL10 final conquerors.
The Ospreys enjoyed a successful day and boasted a chance to take second into the concluding rounds but fell against the Gold Coast Hawks in the evening session, thus surrendering the place.
The opportunity to face Moama in the Grand Final playoff will be up for grabs in the morning however, with the franchises set to do battle in the opening match of the morning.
It was a sensational day for the two-time defending champions in the Melbourne Pulse who ensured the bid for the BPL’s second ever three-peat remained on the cards with three wins from their four encounters.
Ellen Ryan, Barrie Lester and Gary Kelly would only suffer defeat at the hands of the Steamers in a tiebreak loss during the evening session.
The trio sits one win behind the Ospreys and Lions, eagerly waiting in the wings for a chance to move as high as third.
A win behind are the Moreton Bay Pirates, who were granted two opportunities to seal a fifth successive finals berth at the tournament and still remain in the box seat to claim fifth position and possibly higher depending on the Pulse’s results.

Moreton Bay fell to their Melbourne counterparts in the final match of the day session before surrendering to the Lions in the evening, leaving the Gold Coast Hawks, Melbourne eXtreme and Perth Suns all with small chances to feature in the coveted finals night.
Just one win separates the quintet, and should the Pirates suffer defeat against the Steamers in the opening round of the morning, the race for the finals will be wide open.
The concluding rounds of BPL17 are not to be missed, with the twists and turns of the tournament set to engross fans once again – competition commences from 11am AEDT from Moama on Friday morning.
#BPL17 continues tomorrow will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, Kayo and Sky Sports NZ from Tuesday to Friday from 4pm-10pm AEDT.
