Measurer

Officials at all levels are expected to possess the necessary skills and be able to perform their duties competently.

Measuring is a crucial skill for an umpire. Measurers must be proficient with the appropriate and efficient use of all measuring equipment and be able to effectively communicate the results of measures to the players.

Measurers must be physically able and agile to perform the correct procedures for measuring – they must be able to kneel to measure.

There are ‘General Procedures for Measuring’ which relate to nearly all measures conducted. Measurers should be familiar with these.

The ‘Measurer’ Module is one of the three components required to complete accreditation as a ‘National Umpire’. Candidates can choose to complete only this module and achieve accreditation as a ‘Measurer’.

The ‘Measurer Module’ component of the ‘National Umpire’ course will cover the following:

  • ‘General Procedures for Measuring’
  • Introduction to equipment, demonstration and correct procedures for using equipment
  • Interpreting laws relating to measuring
  • On-Green measuring assessment
  • Special Measures – three, four and five bowl measures

Interested candidates should contact their ‘state or territory association, umpire contacts’ for details on upcoming courses for officials.

All candidates should have a copy of the current:
