Officials at all levels are expected to possess the necessary skills and be able to perform their duties competently.
A ‘National Umpire’ is to always be a neutral arbiter, ensuring that the laws of the Sport of Bowls are complied with and that games are conducted in a spirit of fairness and common sense, and in a safe environment.
National Umpires must be proficient markers and measurers and have full knowledge and awareness of all aspects of the Laws of the Sport of Bowls.
National Umpires must be physically able and agile to perform the correct procedures for measuring – they must be able to kneel to measure.
The ‘Umpire’ module is the third module required to be completed to attain a ‘National Umpire’ accreditation.
The ‘Umpire’ module component of the ‘National Umpire’ course will cover:
- Requirements of an Umpire – pre-game, during the game and after the game
- Understanding and interpreting the laws
- Structure of the law book
- The Duties of an Umpire
- Bowls Australia Domestic regulations and policies
- Self-management
- Managing the competitive environment
