How did you get started in bowls?
After retiring to a new area, I joined the local sports club as a way to meet people in a friendly environment. The ladies bowls coach asked if I’d like to learn to play bowls, so I took up the challenge!!
Which was the first bowls club you became involved with?
Fingal Bay
Which clubs have you been involved with throughout your journey?
Fingal Bay
Who is your current club and how have they shown you support throughout your career?
Fingal Bay, where the ladies have always been encouraging, give help when I ask for it, and are proud of my achievements.
Who has been the biggest influence on your bowls journey and why?
Karen Murphy – what a great role model. A great surprise when she rang and invited me to Jackaroos trials two years ago. Because of her, I have learnt to believe in myself and continually try to do my best.
Is there a particular coach who has influenced your bowls journey the most?
Ellen Falkner and James Reynolds – their coaching, patience and insight have been invaluable. They are both always accessible and encouraging.
Why is the 2023 World Bowls Championships so important to you and the people who have helped you on your journey?
The opportunity to represent my country later in life is an absolute honour, and being amongst the first para bowlers to compete at the World Bowls Championships is also a great privilege. Most importantly, my husband Rob, who has been with me every step of the way on this incredible journey.
