Lockdown creates inventiveness: Noronha

by Val Febbo on August 20, 2021

Due to the current COVID-19 situation in New South Wales, Jackaroo Jesse Noronha has had to be inventive with his exercises while confined to his house for most of the day.

Speaking on BA’s ‘Without Bias‘ program, the 30-year-old discussed that he has undertaken unique methods around his home throughout the pandemic.

He has even gone as far as having a roll at the local football oval, joking that it could prepare him for the slow greens in Birmingham next year.

“We nearly do lunges a week when we’re playing bowls, thousands really, so you just have to figure out ways to do that,” Noronha said.

“So whether that’s doing lunges around the house or heading down to the footy oval to throw some bowls down for an hour or so just do get the body moving and the legs working again.

“It does get difficult when you’re not rolling up because your legs aren’t used to it and your core isn’t used to it so you just have to focus on those aspects of your body.”

In terms of staying mentally sharp, Noronha highlights his loved ones as the inspiration to staying positive and enjoying life throughout such a challenging period.

“Spending time with family is the biggest help and we now get more of that than ever, so it’s great,” he said.

“I’ve got a young son who’s 16 months old and I’ve got another baby on the way so it’s good being at home just to take your mind off everything.

“Then there’s work when you can, which is good to take your mind off things to focus on other aspects of your life.”
