Perth Suns announce squad changes for BPL
Bowls Premier League (BPL) licence Perth Suns have announced that due to unforeseen circumstances surrounding COVID-19, they will make three alterations to the previously announced squad for BPL12 in Moama.
Kristina Krstic, Cody Packer and Coach Pieter Harris will stand aside due to the uncertainty surrounding border restrictions and quarantine protocols, given that they will most likely need to adhere to a 14-day quarantine upon returning to Western Australia.
Victorian Lee Schraner will remain in the team as BPL12 descends on the spectacular facilities at the Moama Bowling Club just north of the Murray River.
Joining Schraner will be BCiB Australian Jackaroo and 2020 Australian Female Bowler of the Year Genevieve Delves, and current Australian Champion of Champions titleholder and former Jackaroo squad member Ray Pearse.
Both enjoyed stellar form in the lead up to the pandemic shutdown, with the duo claiming titles in the women’s and men’s pairs at the 2019 Australian Open.
The announcement of the Perth Suns coach will be made in due course, with an eastern state player a likely choice given the restrictions in place.
In addition to the Suns changes, Perth teams that qualified to compete at the BPL Cup have also been impacted.
Teams from Doubleview, Cambridge and Kardinya won their way through to the national finals, but will now compete at the 2021 BPL Cup played in November at Club Pine Rivers instead.
BPL12 runs from February 23-26, with Rinkside Live live-streaming available on Facebook and broadcast action nightly from 5-10pm AEDT on Fox Sports and Kayo.
